The representatives from Moroccan and Jordanian universities had the opportunity to attend a high level meeting at the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean with Ambassador Delphine Borione,  Deputy Secretary General for Social and Civil Affairs, and Ms. Emmanuelle Gardan, Programme Manager, Higher Education and Research. This allowed the participants to get a broad overview of the ongoing and future research projects in the region and the stakeholders involved. It also gave them the possibility to address the UfM and share their feedback, challenges, and suggestions for a better support to research and collaboration among the different countries and institutions.

The participants then visited different department of the Scientific Park of the University of Barcelona and had the chance to exchange with Head of Departments, Researchers, and Professors on the state-of-the-art and current ongoing research. A dedicated session was also organised to discuss the equipment purchase procedure as well as the implementation of the incoming activities and especially on the selection of the experts who will from the Special Interest Teams (Dev. 3.1) be involved in the drafting of report (Dev. 3.2) which will contain concrete suggestion for a customized management model for research and innovation in Morocco and Jordan.
